The Walmer Horse & Dog Show
at Walmer Castle, Deal

It’s been 5 years since I last attended the Walmer horse show due to previous bookings so I was really pleased to be available this year. I was a little concerned when driving to the Walmer Castle grounds in the thick sea mist but I needn’t have worried as it cleared by the time we got there. Catherine arrived soon after to lend a hand and I left her in charge of Ring 1 while I did my best to keep up with the other 3 rings. A schedule shortage left me guessing what classes were where (I should have checked the show’s website beforehand and downloaded my own) but I think I managed to sort them out before uploading to the website. If you made a note of any image numbers on the day and you can’t locate them in the gallery, you can always use the search facility to find them.

You can find the gallery here (requires registering but it’s quick and easy)…

Colette’s Horse & Dog Shows
at Barville Farm

While not the busiest of Colette’s shows this year, it did enable me to try something I’ve wanted to do for ages.  For a long time I’ve had the idea of producing an image of all the jumps being jumped at once! Now I’m using the motorhome for shows I’ve got the perfect opportunity. Using a second camera mounted on the roof of the motorhome, I get a birds eye view of the ring with all the jumps in full view.  Triggered by my camera on the ground I effectively get two shots at the same time. While the slideshow above is not the intended end result, I thought it would make a change to have something different.

I really like the bird’s eye view idea. It looks good and gives a good persective of the arena and the jumps too

Colette’s Horse & Dog Shows
at Barville Farm

Starting out overcast but dry, the show was well attended and managed to get through most of the classes before the rain came in much earlier than forecast. The Quantum Photographic puissance was the last jumping class to finish before the heavens opened with the winning jump of 99cm. Unusually, second place was determined by a jump of 114cm but, unfortunately, this will not count on the leader board.

RDA Annual Show
at Denne Hill, Womenswold

Take a foggy start, turn it into bright sunshine, add some cloud, follow it with a rain shower and then top it off with some sunshine to finish and we got a real sense of the British weather at Denne Hill. At least we didn’t have the wind that we had the day before. However, all these changing lighting conditions played havoc with our cameras so a few of the images may not be at their best quality when viewed in the gallery. Obviously, all images will be fully corrected for colour & density when printed or if you order any digital files via e-mail but some instant downloads could be affected. Give me a call if you have any queries.

Romney Marsh Pony Club
at Delmonden Farm, Hawkhurst

You could probably tell it was our first visit to Delmonden Farm as we entered the ground by the wrong entrance and about 30 minutes later than planned – well, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t find it!  But, once we were up & running, I did my best to catch up and cover as many classes as possible. Somehow, despite the wind that (I’m sure) reached gale force speeds on numerous occasions and the dark clouds on the horizon that threatened to drench us at a moments notice, we did manage to get through the whole day without getting wet. However, I think a lot of you  played it safe and rushed off as soon as you could with GG’s Tack and ourselves being the last to leave the show ground.

You’ve got 1378 images to wade through from this event.  Most of you will be new to my website so you will have to register first but it’s quick and it’s free!  Look for our special offer of all your images sent to you via e-mail for £25 – it will be a no brainer for most of you, especially if you were in any of the showing classes.
